Perú By Daniela Armijos





Peru is a diverse country that is located on the edge of the Nazca and South American plates. It is part of the "belt of fire" in the Pacific. This causes the existence of volcanoes and frequent earthquakes. The country is divided into three main sectors: Costa, 11% of the total surface area, the Andes (or Sierra) 27% of the area, and the Selva, 62% of the surface.


The Cost, or region Chala, is a large swathe of desert and flat, slightly wavy, which runs parallel to the coast of Peru from Tumbes to Tacna. Its width ranges from 180 km at the height of the department of Piura (Desert Sechura) to the narrowness of the department of Arequipa, where virtually disappears. It has a slope that descends from the 2,500 meters to sea level. Here are the pong, the areas where the accrue material that erosion has pulled the Andes.

Machu Picchu is considered both a masterpiece of architecture and engineering.Its unique architectural features and landscaping, and the veil of mystery that has woven around him much of the literature published on the site, they have become one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet.

Machu Picchu is on the List of World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1983 as part of a whole set cultural and eco-known under the name of Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary.

Lima is the capital city of Peru as well as its largest city and important. It is located on the central coast of Peru, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, in the river valleys Chillón, Rimac and Lurin. Form a continuous urban area with the port of Callao.

It was founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro on January 18 of 1535, as the 'City of Kings'. It was the capital of the Viceroyalty of Peru during the Spanish regime and after independence it became the capital of the Republic of Peru. According to the 2007 census the population of Lima is of 7,605,742 inhabitants, however, the metropolitan area composed of Lima and Callao home to 8,482,619 inhabitants, equivalent to 30% of the Peruvian population.
